5 Causes of back pain can be avoided

If you have problems with your back , you should try to find the trigger and take targeted countermeasures. According to the orthopedist Reinhard , there are five typical causes of back pain:

1. Sitting for a long time
Sitting for long periods of time leads to incorrect strain on the muscles and can in turn lead to tension and pain. Schneiderhan recommends active leisure activities: walks or sports such as Pilates or yoga.

2. Lack of exercise
With a lack of exercise , the muscles weaken and the intervertebral discs are not sufficiently supplied with water and nutrients. Suitable types of exercise are swimming or running.

3. Overweight
Being overweight primarily puts a strain on the intervertebral discs, which act like shock absorbers between the vertebrae.

4. Stress
Stress can lead to muscle tension. To counteract this, Schneiderhan recommends reducing the mental stress as far as possible, but also strengthening the back muscles and relieving tension.

5. Heavy carrying
Carrying heavy loads is a problem, especially if you have weak muscles. Often there is sudden pain in the back. Schneiderhan advises using backpacks if possible and distributing loads as evenly as possible – when shopping it is better to take two smaller bags with you instead of one large one. Important: When lifting, bend your knees instead of lifting from your back.
