5 fitness hacks for those with little motivation

You know that it would probably be good for you to do a little sport every now and then – but so far the home workouts haven’t really worked out? Read on.

We have probably never moved as little as we did during the pandemic.
If you feel the same way, here are some tips to help you stay fit even in these unusual times (and despite low motivation):

1. Build more exercise into your everyday life
Instead of just spending your free time in bed and on the couch, grab your cell phone and headphones after work and listen to an episode of your favorite podcast on a long walk . While you are cooking or cleaning up, next time turn on some music that motivates and puts you in a good mood and dance through the apartment! You see, it doesn’t have to be a workout video to keep moving.

2. Eliminate distractions
Do you want to do a workout, but are always distracted by Instagram, your roommates or in other ways – and then usually let it go? Try to eliminate everything that could bring you out beforehand, meaning: put your cell phone in another room or turn it off and let your roommates know.

3. Combine fitness with Netflix
We get it completely: Netflix, Prime and Co are really tempting and invite you to spend the lockdown almost exclusively in front of the screen. If you don’t want to do without your favorite series, just try to get some exercise meanwhile, say: While you’re watching the next episode “Squid Game”, get up from the sofa and get your circulation going with a few jumping jacks; if you want to train your hamstrings, a wall sit, lunges, or a few squats are great.

4. Plan your workouts in advance
So that you actually exercise regularly, plan time for it in advance, but be realistic: If you usually roll out of bed five minutes before work, there will be no point in doing a 2-hour workout in the early hours of the morning. Maybe you find it easier to motivate yourself at lunchtime or in the evening. Also, don’t set the times too long, especially in the beginning. Several short blocks are easier to adhere to, especially when you have little time or motivation.

5. Put your gym clothes on first thing in the morning
While it’s tempting to spend all day in your pajamas or sweatpants, it’s not conducive to productivity. To trick your brain a bit and get into a more active mindset, put on your sportswear in the morning. If you have already dressed appropriately, it will also be easier to quickly fit in a short workout during a break from work or after work.
