5 things you should do to boost your confidence after a breakup

Of course we know that we are super, cute and lovable even when we are not in a relationship. Nevertheless, after a breakup , it can’t hurt to help your own ego back on track with a little self-care.

“Got to take a deep breath, time to focus on you,” says Lizzo . And she’s right. The end of a relationship is always difficult – no matter who initiated it. And even if we rationally know that our self-worth has nothing to do with our relationship status, we still sometimes don’t really want to understand it. In the phase after a separation , it is therefore particularly important to do a lot of good for yourself. We have a bit of input:

1. Clean out
Yes, wallowing in self-pity a little, eating soul food and being happy that you finally don’t have to discuss the mountains of crockery in the kitchen with anyone anymore is fine. In the long run, however, a small cleaning marathon is even better for us – it also brings mental structure and clarity at the same time. Psychologist Sal Raichbach advises those who are not at all happy about cleaning and decluttering despite the 80s playlist via Elite Daily : “Don’t see cleaning as a chore, but as a form of self-care – then it can have a therapeutic effect.”

2. Create playlists
Speaking of 80s playlists: It is clear that music has an influence on our mood. Therefore: Get out with “your songs” from the playlist, in with your mood boosters and then dance through the apartment! “It has been proven that we release more oxytocin and endorphins – this reduces stress and lifts the spirits,” says Dr. Soph to Elite Daily .

3. Say yes
It’s tempting to bury yourself at home with Netflix , but as corny as it sounds, say yes more often! Yes to splash dates, yes to movie night, yes to going out at the weekend!

4. Pretzels
As I said: We know anyway that we are just as lovable, sexy and desirable without a partner, but a little pretzels can’t hurt to internalize. Take a bath, have a good time, wear your best underwear, masturbate , pretzel yourself – “just” for yourself.

5. Journaling
Who doesn’t know it: after a breakup, all imaginable scenarios like “What would have happened if…?” play through It’s insanely draining mentally. What helps: write it down. 10 minutes a day is enough to get everything that goes through our heads down on paper. And while you’re at it, you can also write down a few things that you particularly like about yourself. Hip’s not, it doesn’t hurt.
