What income level should I suggest?

Over the years, I have come to realize that quotes are an art. You need to be subtle and skillful in proposing how much you will be paid. You might not expect that the following seemingly unrelated factors will determine your salary:

If they come to you because they like your style, you can set a higher price, if you are bidding to apply for a job with 100 other competitors.

  • What is your experience?

Do you have any experience writing relevant articles? Are you sure you can meet your word volume requirement within a fixed time frame? Are your abilities good enough to accommodate their work?   • How much do you get paid per hour?

  • What kind of work is that?

If someone hires you just to write small articles to thicken your site and serve strange SEO goals, they won’t pay as much as places where blogs/websites are trying to build quality content for people. Different jobs deserve different salaries.

Salary is based on word count and salary based on the number of articles

Once you get into a content creation career, you will realize that there are 2 ways to pay for a job: word or article number. Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages:

  • Pay by word count

For example, you will probably earn more if you can complete an article correctly in 500 words, which is very rare. Usually, to complete a well-written essay, you need 530 or 540 words. The downside of this payroll method is that you have to get past the word limit if that’s what you set out to the client.

  • Salary by article

This way, you will be less limited to the number of words you need to use in your article (sometimes very beneficial when you encounter topics with too much information) but will also be a problem if you continue to exceed the specified word limit.

It’s best to start thinking about how many words you would be comfortable writing in an hour, and don’t forget that you still need time searching for information in the writing process. After all, figure out whether the money you make from each word you write is worth the time you spend.

For example, You could write 1,000 words an hour and you think your 1-hour work is worth $ 50. That means you earn $ 0.05 per word.

Your next job is to find customers willing to pay you the salary you want.

Plan your time allocation and determine your maximum productivity

One of the first obstacles that you will hardly avoid as a content writer is time management. This will always put pressure on you and could keep you from getting enough sleep.

I’m pretty good at quotes and winning deals, but then hiring someone else to write, edit it and deliver it to the client on time is probably too much for my team. We didn’t meet the deadline and, after a few days, had to quit the job.

It is a memorable lesson in managing time and team members. However, if you pass this challenge, you will receive a worthy remuneration.

Win better contracts

One of the things you must define from the beginning when you are a copywriter and content creator is this: you are a writer of quality or quantity. Clearly distinguishing these two aspects will help you get better deals.

If you write poor quality articles at affordable prices, you will have to write a lot of articles to have a decent income. But if you want to write quality articles and really write a lot, you won’t have the resources and time to get the job done properly.

If you are the type that can write a lot, my advice is to bring together a team of writers and content editors to meet the requirements of large contracts. If you only make small profits, you need to learn how to scale so that you get more contracts.

Maybe you will question why I wrote this post exclusively for content writing and not copywriting. I wouldn’t say this article will help you become a better copywriter because this profession requires a lot of unique skills, while the word content writer will better describe the writing profession.

You see, if you think of yourself as a copywriter, you have to make sure that your ability to write ads, set landing pages and copy websites can turn into a good black sales channel. A content writer, on the other hand, just needs to write articles with the target of keywords or maybe that content website needs to provide more information than it is to reach sales goals. Of course, future clients can decide whether you should be a content writer or a copywriter, but in my opinion, this article would be more suitable for a content writer than a copywriter, although it can be applied in both jobs.
