Important tips for a nice beach trip with children

It’s a nice feeling to wake up on a sunny day, especially when you’re not far from the beach. So a day at the beach is a sensible option for everyone. It really is the perfect way for families to while away a sunny day, especially with the long school holidays fast approaching!

The only problem is that, in all probability, practically everyone thinks the same thing. So start early to avoid the traffic and ensure you can snag a spot before the beach gets too crowded.

By far the best way to do this is to keep everything together in a plastic container or large bag. This way you only need to pack a few things and put them in the car to go.

If you stay longer on the beach with small children and have rented a holiday home, we can give you a little tip: For example, there is a transportable door safety gate that was specially developed for traveling families .

Here’s a quick checklist of what to put aside.

swimwear
If you haven’t already done so, have everyone try on their swimwear. They want to be sure that everything fits and is in good condition. If you need new swimwear, check out some of the online retailers. Companies like these sell a particularly good selection, making it easier for you to find what you want.

sun protection
Everyone needs a hat. Look for one with a wide brim and a way to keep it in place in case it gets windy.

Every member of the family needs sunglasses that offer adequate protection from the sun. Luckily, you don’t have to spend a fortune to buy the right kind of sunglasses. All you have to do is follow the advice given here.

For the younger members of the family, some sort of shade tent is a good idea. It may also be worth equipping them with sun protection clothing. However, do not forget to apply sunscreen regularly to the areas that are not fully covered. Be sure to apply some to her lips. food and water
This is super important – pack some water and something to eat (I’m happy to fill an Esky ice box full with things that will get us through the day). Be sure to put them in the car with you. So you can get to everything quickly in traffic and prevent anyone from getting hungry or thirsty. Here are some beach snack ideas to get you started.

toys and other items
Remember to pack items like buckets and spades so you don’t have to waste money buying another set on the beach! Also, be sure to pack something to keep everyone occupied while you’re in the car. It’s also worth packing a power adapter so you can keep everyone’s electronics going if you need to – although going to the beach is the perfect opportunity to go tech-free for a few hours. If you intend to take your phones, smartphones and tablets to the beach, it is advisable to buy waterproof and sandproof bags for them.

towels and mats
Don’t forget to pack enough beach towels and mats. Chances are everyone is in and out of the water all the time. So pack the kind that dries out quickly.
beach shoes

You can never be sure what lurks just beneath the sand, so it makes sense for everyone to wear shoes on the beach. Flip flops or water shoes are a particularly good option.

Beach first aid kit
If everyone is running around and playing, there will be cuts and scrapes. That’s why it’s wise to put together a basic first aid kit to ensure you can treat them without having to lose your place on the beach.

And once you’ve completed all of that, you’re all set! All we need is that glorious weather we’ve always had (although it’ll probably go away once the school holidays start).
