Study proves you need a best friend at work

Friends simply make life easier – even in the office !

Work wife or hubby, favorite colleague or the only ray of hope in capitalist limbo – whatever you call friends at work , their effect is the same: they make our lives a little bit better. What we and our favorite people have known for a long time is now confirmed by a recent UK survey of white- collar workers.

69 percent of those surveyed are convinced that their work friends are good for their mental health. Another 66 percent said friends increased their job satisfaction and 63 percent said they were more motivated when working with friends.

Friends increase job satisfaction
This also has an impact on productivity: Researchers at Harvard Business School have found that those who work with friends are twice as committed to their jobs . And author and researcher Dr. Annie McKee has written an entire book about friendships at work. “How to be Happy at Work” dispels two myths at once: that you ca n’t be happy at work and that you can’t find friends in an office. Both are wrong.

“I don’t know where these myths come from,” she tells Glamour . “Of course you can be friends with the people you work with. You just see them all the time! It’s fundamental to job satisfaction!”

This even goes so far that 38 percent of those surveyed in the British study stated that they would remain in an unsatisfactory job because of existing friendships. Generation Z is out of line here : A third of the young respondents stated that they interacted as little as possible with colleagues because of social anxiety . 36 percent find it difficult to make friends at work.
